About Donna Boreck

Donna Boreck has been hired to assist in the review of the Fox River and Green Bay cleanup documents, as part of our Technical Assistant Grant project.  Ms. Boreck has more than 20 years of experience as a research scientist focused primarily on geologic and environmental issues involved in development of energy and mineral resources. More recent work has addressed drinking water protection (including wellhead protection) and assessing health risks.  She is also experienced as a technical supervisor and team leader on projects and planning teams, and in public speaking and writing on scientific and general interest topics.

She has a bachelors degree in Geology from Colorado State University, a masters degree in Geology from the Colorado School of Mines, and more recently has attended the masters program in Environmental Policy & Management at University College, Denver University, in Colorado.  Her course work over the years has included Hazardous/Solid Waste Management, Risk Assessment Guidance for Superfund, Auditing of Environmental Management Systems, and
Hazardous Materials Incident Response Operations.

Ms. Boreck serves as an independent consultant, and has also worked several years with FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, assessing damaged sites and determining environmental regulatory issues.  Prior to this, she worked as an Environmental Research Scientist in the Division of Environmental Health, Minnesota Department of Health, where she developed a team of scientists to work on determining the main hydrologic and geochemical
controls on toxic contaminant migration from old mining sites in Minnesota.  She has worked several years as a geological specialist in the remediation of old mining problems. She has published more than 22 papers in her field, and served as editor of several others.
