Oneida Tribe of Wisconsin

Back to Native Nations and Ethnic Cultures

The Oneida Nation is a co-trustee in the federally-led version of the Natural Resources Damage Assessment, under the leadership of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. The Nation has a special cultural interest in the natural resources which have been harmed, because the Oneida people have traditionally harvested fish from Duck Creek, and can no longer consume the fish due to PCB contamination. In addition, many Oneida hunters traditionally harvested local waterfowl and other wild game now contaminated with PCBs.
